Welcome!

This will be my eighth year at Villa Academy.  It’s hard to believe.  I have several responsibilities and enjoy all of them. I coordinate the Middle School Learning Support program, teach 7A and 8B Religion and help to facilitate our school liturgies. It’s a job that provides much variety.

As the Learning Support Coordinator, I see some students in class and monitor others. However, I can also be a resource for any Middle School family with questions or concerns about their child’s learning style or progress. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

I love teaching religion and enjoy the content in both 7th and 8th grade. For more information about specific content, please check the home page for each class. I have posted the grade level syllabus on each home page. The approach and content is unique to each individual class, however my goal is to create a classroom environment that is accepting, safe and guided by the Cabrinian tradition of educating compassionate hearts and confident minds.

This year I am fortunate to have Erin Flotte (Middle School Math) as Co-Liturgy Coordinator. We will be working together to facilitate all school liturgies. Erin will mainly be assisting with the liturgies in the Lower School and I will be responsible for the liturgies in Grades 6-8.  The 8th grade students will lead the Baccalaureate mass and 7th graders will be the host class for the End of the School Year Mass.  This mass is important for all 7th graders.  During this mass, we have a ritual that celebrates their transition into leadership as 8th graders. It would be lovely to have all of our 7th grade students and families attend, if possible.  Please keep this in mind as you make your summer plans.

I am looking forward to another great year.  I value the partnership with parents at this exciting stage of development.  I am eager to get to know both you and your children.

I have served in Catholic education for over a decade and have more than 20 years experience in education.  I live in Issaquah with my husband, Phil.  I have three children, who have also attended Catholic schools; St. Louise School in Bellevue and Eastside Catholic High School in Sammamish.  They are now young adults pursuing various careers.

I love teaching and believe in the mission of Mother Cabrini.  As I have read about her life, I have come across various quotes attributed to this beloved saint.  I would like to share my favorite quote with all of you.  It is my hope to continue to live out her mission in all that I do.

I will go anywhere and do anything in order to communicate the love of Jesus to those who don’t know him or have forgotten him.

-St. Francis Xavier Cabrini
